Scanfil was registered with the Finnish Trade Register on 4 June 1976 when Jorma J. Takanen started operations in his brother’s garage in Sievi, Finland. The name of the company refers to its first products, filters, but the business soon found a new direction in mechanics and electronics.
The 1990s were a time of strong growth for Scanfil. Turnover increased from EUR 5 million to EUR 220 million. The company was listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange in 2002 and became international by expanding its operations to Hungary, China and Estonia.
Today, 50 years on, Scanfil is a global contract manufacturing partner with 16 production facilities on four continents and over 4,700 employees. The turnover guidance for 2026 is EUR 940-1,060 million.
The 50th anniversary is celebrated with two major announcements. Written by Anitra Komulainen, The Scanfil Story (Siltala), is published today, telling the company’s story of five decades. At the same time, Scanfil launches its renewed brand which reflects the company’s growth and its well-established position as a trusted manufacturing partner.
“We want to thank our customers, partners and employees for their strong trust and cooperation over the past 50 years,” says Harri Takanen, Chairperson of the Scanfil Group.Â
